Symptoms

Database startup fails with an ORA-439 error.

SQL> Connected to an idle instance.
SQL> ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Real Application Clusters
SQL> Disconnected

Changes

After applying a CPU patch, mistakenly ran the following command.

alter system set cluster_database=TRUE scope=spfile;
