Symptoms

Your database version is 10.2.0.4 and you start to notice a variety of ORA-7445 errors occurring leading to a database crash:

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [00000000] [SIGILL] [Illegal opcode] [0x000000000] [] []

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [kghalp+0014] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0xF8E9DACB0101005B] [] []

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ïè+XXXX][SIGILL] [Illegal opcode] [0x1103DEFD0] [] []



The call stack may look similar to the following:

Changes

The errors began shortly after applying the the following merge patch:

Patch 12636230  MERGE REQUEST ON TOP OF 10.2.0.4.4 FOR BUGS 12557810 7195403 7523755 9545597



This merge patch contains other merge patches.

This issue can also be seen in other merge patches such as:
