Ora-03135: Connection Lost Contact After Idle Time (Doc ID 1380261.1)

Connections that are established to the database and left idle for a period of time are being abruptly terminated with the following error:

 ORA-3135 TNS:  Connection lost contact 

 An Oracle Net client trace shows the following error stack:
