RDBPROD: EPC$REGISTRAR fails with SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO (Doc ID 1391283.1)

Last updated on JULY 05, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Trace (for Rdb) - Version 7.2 to 7.2.0.3 [Release 7.2]
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS Itanium

Symptoms

In the installation log for Oracle Trace, just before starting the IVP it says:

%VMSINSTAL-I-MOVEFILES, Files will now be moved to their target directories...
"RDBVMS$INSTALLED_VERSIONS" = "*V7.2-500" (LNM$PROCESS_TABLE)
%RUN-S-PROC_ID, identification of created process is 22E008D4

The created process is the EPC$REGISTRAR process.

Later in the IVP it reports:

Schedule a collection...
%EPC-S-SCHED, Data collection EPC$IVP_COLLECTION is scheduled
-EPC-I-NOREG_RUNNING, No Registrar process on node E with resource EPC$E_FE_MSG

The EPC$REGISTRAR process has failed.

The problem may also occur on a system where Oracle Trace has already been installed, during the startup of the product:

$ @SYS$COMMON:[SYS$STARTUP]EPC$STARTUP
"RDBVMS$INSTALLED_VERSIONS" = "*V7.2-500" (LNM$PROCESS_TABLE)
%RUN-S-PROC_ID, identification of created process is 22E008D8
