Creating AWR or STATSPACK Snapshots may experience extremely poor performance.

Symptoms

Very poor performance while attempting to generate a snapshot for either the AWR ( automatic workload repository ) or Statspack reports.

More specifically this may show as following:

  • Very poor insert times on WRH$_TEMPSTATXS or STATS$FILESTATXS
  • Cartesian joins for queries used in the generation of the performance report snapshots

Changes

None may be known or stated although this performance problem is often associated with a migration to 11.2.0.3 , 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.1.
