ILOM Incorrectly Reports Failure When No Fault Exists: Error: "fault = fault.chassis.device.misconfig@/sys/sp" (Doc ID 1394673.1)

Symptoms

ILOM can report to remote monitoring tools that there is a fault in the Exadata System, when none exists.

Error reported similar to: "fault = fault.chassis.device.misconfig@/sys/sp"

The absence of fault is verified by BOTH the ILOM snapshot and by the use of the SunDiag utility.

The log can generate an error similar to:
2012-01-11/00:24:05 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX SPX86-8002-VP

fault = fault.chassis.device.misconfig@/sys/sp
certainty = 100.0 %
FRU = /sys/sp
ASRU = /sys/sp
resource = /sys/sp
chassis_serial_number = XXXXXXXX
product_serial_number = XXXXXXXX
[skipped fruid update]
