ORA-27123 When Starting Instance With No Setting Of SGA_TARGET Or SGA_MAX_SIZE (Doc ID 1401726.1)

Symptoms

While starting up the instance with no SGA_MAX_SIZE or SGA_TARGET parameters, the below error occurrs:

SQL> startup nomount
ORA-27123: unable to attach to shared memory segment
Solaris-AMD64 Error: 22: Invalid argument
Additional information: 7
Additional information: 1006632962
Additional information: -536870912

If you set either parameter SGA_MAX_SIZE or SGA_TARGET, the instance starts successfully.

Changes

This issue happens after installing or upgrading to 11.2.0.3 on Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit).
