ORA-07445[KGHALF]/ORA-00600[QKSXADUMPXML:1] ERRORS REPORTED IN ALERT LOG

(Doc ID 1413510.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 28, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.3 [Release 11.1 to 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The following symptoms have been attributed to this issue :-

a) Alert log reports errors of the following nature :-

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [kghalf()+58] [SIGSEGV] [ADDR:0x68]
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qksxaDumpXml:1], [1008], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

Usually both errors are seen in the alert but if further symptoms are also seen the article
is likely to be applicable.

b) Trace analysis confirms a SQL Analyze operation is being performed :-

----- Current SQL Statement for this session (sql_id=1s9f5hs51a3uw) -----
/* SQL Analyze(873,1) */ SELECT DISTINCT .......

The SQL could be varied but are determined to be generated within Enterprise Manager (OEM)

c) The ORA-07445 call stack is similar to :-

Function List (to Full stack) (to Summary stack)

kghalf <- kdbmalf <- kdb4cpss <- kdbcpss <- kdoirp
<- kco_issue_callback <- kcoapl <- kcbapl <- kcrfw_redo_gen
<- kcbchg1_main
<- kcbchg <- ktuapundo <- ktbapundo <- kdoiur <- kcoubk
<- ktundo <- kturCurrBackoutOneChg <- kturRollbackToSavepoint
<- ktcrsp1 <- ksudlc <- kssdel <- ksupop <- kksPopFailedCompile

d) The ORA-00600 call stack in similar to :-

Function List (to Full stack) (to Summary stack)

qksxaDumpXml <- xplDumpOtherXml <- xplDumpRws <- kxsDefaultump <- kxsDumpCursors
<- curdmp <- ksudps <- dbkedDefDump <- ksedmp <- ssexhd
<- sighandler <- kghalf <- kdbmalf <- kdb4cpss <- kdbcpss
<- kdoirp <- kco_issue_callback <- kcoapl <- kcbapl <- kcrfw_redo_gen
<- kcbchg1_main <- kcbchg <- ktuapundo <- ktbapundo <- kdoiur
<- kcoubk <- ktundo <- kturCurrBackoutOneChg <- kturRollbackToSavepoint
<- ktcrsp1 <- ksudlc <- kssdel <- ksupop
<- kksPopFailedCompile

Many more functions might be present in the call stack but if the call stack has kksPopFailedCompileCall() present, then it is more likely this article is applicable.
