Goal

This article is intended to give you an overview of segment_created column of DBA_TAB_PARTITIONS table.
Database version: 11.2
When you select from the DBA_TAB_PARTITIONS table there are three types of entries in the SEGMENT_CREATED column:
YES and N/A are explained in the documentation.
What does an entry of "NONE" mean?

SQL> select distinct SEGMENT_CREATED from DBA_TAB_PARTITIONS;

SEGM
----
YES
NONE

SQL> select distinct segment_created from dba_tab_subpartitions;

SEG
---
YES
NO

SQL> select distinct segment_created from dba_ind_partitions;

SEG
---
YES
N/A

SQL> select distinct segment_created from dba_ind_subpartitions;

SEG
---
YES
NO
