Information in this document applies to any platform.


The present document will provide the steps to perform an alternative way to upgrade an ASM RAC configuration from release 10.2 or 11.1 to release 11.2.

Note 1: Only use the next procedure when the conventional/standard upgrade procedure fails or is not working.
Note 2: Before proceed with the following steps, the existing failed 11.2 cluster should be deconfigure/deinstall first. Otherwise, the “Install and Configure Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster” would not show up in OUI as OUI will show that there’s already a cluster.

Please use the following document to remove the failed 11.2 cluster:
  •     Document: 1377349.1 : ”How to Deconfigure/Reconfigure(Rebuild OCR) or Deinstall Grid Infrastructure.
Note 3: If CRS 11.2 was upgraded successfully, then ASM instances could be added manually using the “srvctl” command as follows:
