Unable to use DBMS_REPCAT.CREATE_MASTER_REPOBJECT -ORA-02218 in DBA_REPCALOG (Doc ID 1437061.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 06, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.3 - Release: 11.1 to 11.2
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Adding a new table to a replication group appears complete ok when issued, however it does not and there is an error in dba_repcatlog:

BEGIN
DBMS_REPCAT.CREATE_MASTER_REPOBJECT(
  gname => '"GROUP1"',
  type => 'TABLE',
  oname => '"DEPT"',
  sname => '"REPDBA"',
  copy_rows => TRUE,
  use_existing_object => TRUE);
END;
/

In dba_repcalog:
ORA-02218: invalid INITIAL storage option value -2218 GROUP1

NOTE:
DEPT exists in the curent site and is valid
The table does not exist in the other MS, hence should be created when calling the API.

This is not working as documented and the problem does not occur in previous releases.

Changes

Upgraded to 11g and trying to add a new object to the replication group.
