ORA-600 [12807] & ORA-600 [kghssgdmp1] Errors Occurring When Gathering Statistics (Doc ID 1438757.1)

Symptoms

You encounter ORA-600 [12807] errors possibly followed by ORA-600 [kghssgdmp1] errors when attempting to gather statistics on tables.  From the trace file generated the error occurs on execution of the CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE command with a call stack similar to the following:
