ORA-48122 ORA-27040 In Alert Log When ADR Is Placed In An ext3 Filesystem (Doc ID 1441522.1)

Symptoms

The instance alert file contains errors like:

ORA-48122: error with opening the ADR block file
<ADR_BASE>/diag/rdbms/<database name>/<instance name>/metadata/<file name> [0]
ORA-27040: file create error, unable to create file
Linux-x86_64 Error: 22: Invalid argument


The ADR is located on an ext3 type file system which has been mounted with data=journal option.
