Last updated on APRIL 10, 2012

Applies to:

Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 11.1.0.7 and later   [Release: 11.1 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

We have seen a memory leak while inserting data from table with XMLType column over DB_LINK.

SQL> desc LEAK_MEM_XMLTYPE

Name                        Null?    Type
--------------------------- -------- ----------------------------
ID                                   NUMBER(9)
DOCXML                               SYS.XMLTYPE

SQL> INSERT INTO LEAK_MEM_XMLTYPE select * from LEAK_MEM_XMLTYPE@cofitmp;

We are seeing increase in session PGA/UGA memory with increase in number of inserted rows into a table with XMLType, for example 30,000 rows of small xml documents session PGA/UGA grows over 2 GB.
