A huge disk drop was going when ASM suddenly became hung.
Symptoms
Os log reported the following message:

UNABLE TO ALLOCATE SPACE IN FILE SYSTEM
Probable Causes
FILE SYSTEM FULL
Changes
ASM has to write to alert.log while dropping disks.
