DataPump Import Is Extremely Slow When Importing Package Bodies (Doc ID 1452917.1)

Symptoms

A full or schema level Data Pump import is extremely slow when importing package bodies. The same slowness is seen if importing only packages.

Tracing the DM00 and DW00 Data Pump import processes with:


alter system set events 'sql_trace {process : pname = dw | pname = dm} level=12';

when package bodies are imported will show in generated DW00 trace file that:

- the slowness is seen when compiling packages i.e. executing statements like:

ALTER PACKAGE "<owner>"."<package name>" COMPILE SPECIFICATION REUSE SETTINGS

- the above statements were preceded by statements like:

grant execute on SYS_PLSQ ...

- the highest wait event is "library cache pin".
