ASM does not Start only via 'srvctl': PRKS-1009, ORA-00119, ORA-00132, ORA-01078 (Doc ID 1457634.1)

Last updated on APRIL 06, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Some details on the environment: 2 node RAC - (+ASM1/+ASM2) - Linux x86-64

ASM1 fails to start up only when srvctl is used (does not occurs when using sqlpplus)

$ srvctl start asm -n dbdev05
PRKS-1009 : Failed to start ASM instance "+ASM1" on node "dbdev05", [PRKS-1009 : Failed to start
ASM instance "+ASM1" on node "dbdev05", [dbdev05:ora.dbdev05.ASM1.asm:

CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora.dbdev05.ASM1.asm'.]]

Removing and adding back the ASM resource into the OCR (via srvctl commands), do not help.

Also in this case, it was not possible to use the suggestion given in <> (DBCA Creates a RAC Database But at the End Shows PRPP-1001 and CRS-0215) because there is not database instances yet registered in the OCR and associated with the ASM instance.
