126.96.36.199 Grid Installer Hangs at 75% When Using DASD Storage Device That Is Soft Linked
Last updated on APRIL 24, 2017
Applies to:Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version 188.8.131.52 to 184.108.40.206 [Release 11.2]
IBM: Linux on System z
Hanging at 75% during Grid Infrastructure installation and investigation shows that the hang is due to "/tmp/CVU_220.127.116.11.0_grid/exectask -getsttype /dev/ASM0401" looping on the second node.
-When specifying "/dev/ASM0401" for Oracle Restart/single instance on 18.104.22.168 installation there are no problems
-When specifying an ASMLib device (ORCL:ASM0401) there are no problems with a two node Grid Infrastructure installation.
-When specifying "/dev/dasdj1" (the non soft link device) there are no problems with a two node Grid Infrastructure installation. This diskstring is not persistent accross reboots though.
- When speciifing a diskstring of "/dev/dasdj1", deconfiguring, and changing the config_params to "/dev/ASM0401" the Cluster install completes succesfully.
The hang at 75% occurs in 22.214.171.124 Grid Infrastructure installation but does not occur in 126.96.36.199 Grid Infrastructure installation.
DASD devices are configured via udev rules on each node as follows with a SYMLINK i.e.
node1:/dev # vi /etc/udev/rules.d/99-udev-oracle.rules
# Oracle ASM dasd disk
