ORA-04030 for (PLS PGA hp,PL/SQL STACK) & Server Crash due to lack of free memory (Doc ID 1461262.1)

Symptoms

The Oracle database Alert log records an error similar to:
ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 8216 bytes (PLS PGA hp,PL/SQL STACK)

An examination of the trace file shows that a significant amount of memory has been allocated to "PL/SQL STACK"
i.e.

 

Finally, the system may crash because it has run out of free memory.

Changes

A PL/SQL Procedure was recently modified.
