AWR Snapshots Missing Intermittently Accompanied by Spike in CPU from MMON Process (Doc ID 1466333.1)

Symptoms

    1. When querying the view DBA_HIST_SNAPSHOT, you find that snapshots are missing on occasion.  They should occur hourly (by default), but they are not consistently being collected on the hour.
    2. You may also notice a surge in CPU utilization occasionally at the top of the hour.

Changes

 There have been no changes to the server parameter file or to the Oracle Database software home.
