There might be situations (for example: when there is a need to switch software install owners) where you have to reinstall the Oracle Restart (GI +RDBMS) Software completely and not only to deconfigure and reconfigure. This document describes the procedure for reinstalling Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RDBMS software whilst maintaining your ASM diskgroups - thus - reinstalling Oracle software without disturbing data. At present, the process of reinstalling Grid Infrastructure requires a fresh / clean / temporary / small shared disk that will be configured during install as an ASM disk that will house the ASM instance spfile.
