Slave thread stuck in Waiting for Global Read Lock

On : 5.5 version, the mysqldump Command-Line Tool

When performing a mysqldump task on the server, it freezes/hangs and has to be killed to continue.

The mysqldump program should continue as normal to completion without hanging.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Binary logging was enabled.
2. Slave thread was in the process of being killed.
3. A SHOW PROCESSLIST command was in play.
4. An UPDATE command was being used that may have rotated the binary log.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot effectively back up the database or get confused when it works sometimes and not other times.
