INS-40420 While Trying To Upgrade CRS to Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 (Doc ID 1479351.1)

Symptoms

Trying to install 11.2.0.3 Grid Infrastructure(GI) on existing 10.2.0.5 cluster for upgrade, the GI installation fails with:

[INS-40420] The current installation user is not the same as the installation owner of the existing Oracle Grid Infrastructure software.

Cause - The installer detects that the current installation user (oracle) is not the same as the exiting Oracle Grid Infrastructure software user (root). To upgrade the existing software, run the installer as the user owning the Oracle Grid Infrastructure home.

Problem symptom could also be cluvfy pre-upgrade readiness check reports the followings for upgrading clusterware from pre 11.2 to 11gR2:

PRVF-9555 : Current installation user "oracle" is not the owner "root" of the existing CRS installation
