IPC Send Timeout and ORA-12805 with Parallel Execution (Doc ID 1481028.1)

Symptoms

Please note:   The underlying cause of this error was NOT in the PX code.  It was an RDBMS/VOS bug.  IPC is an internal communication timeout.  PX is the innocent bystander here of an IPC problem.   This note does NOT mean these issues should be routed to the PX team.  Rather, it was written to document the solution of this problem for other analysts.

 

Intermittent 'IPC Send timeout detected' messages were seen in the alert log, and ORA-12805 was returned to the user session.  No ORA-12805 was recorded in the alert log.
