Symptoms

After executing a backup on standby site, sometimes,  the snapshot  controlfile is changed to the primary site configuration and next backup  fails with:

RMAN error  stack as below

RMAN-03009: failure of Control File and SPFILE Autobackup command on c1 channel at 05/22/2012 02:30:08
ORA-01580: error creating control backup file <path>/snapcf_xxxxx.f
ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file <path>/snapcf_xxxxx.f
ORA-15173: entry 'xxxxx_zzz does not exist in directory '/'

Here DB_UNIQUE_NAME of primary DB is xxxxx_yyy and DB_UNIQUE_NAME of standby is xxxxx_zzz.

Backups ran fine using catalog from standby site but sometimes while taking snapshot controlfile it fails saying directory doesn't exist .
