Single Node ODA does not Startup Correctly if the Second Node is down (Doc ID 1486965.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 14, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database Appliance Software - Version to [Release 2.3]
Linux x86-64
Although originally deployed as ODA version 2.2, the system has been updated to version 2.3

To prepare our two-RAC node ODA system for production operations, we shutdown node 2, and proceeded to make a series of database manipulations from node 1. Following these manipulations, the databases on node 1 were successfully re-started normally.  Everything worked fine.  The database came up on the one RAC node just fine. No problems at all.

Then (as a double-check) we completely rebooted Node 1, in anticipation of later restarting Node 2 and returning Node 2 back into the Cluster. However, this double-check reboot of Node 1 hung for over 20 minutes and the database never did start up on it’s own.   We were eventually able to start it up manually via sqlplus.
