FAILOVER_TYPE FAILOVER_METHOD shows NONE in v$session or gv$session even though failover (TAF) is configured (Doc ID 1490078.1)

Symptoms

When query to check the gv$session OR v$session, view to see whether session has failover capability, but we see a few sessions shows NONE for FAILOVER_TYPE and FAILOVER_METHOD column 

Values of failover_type and failover_methed column of v$session are shown as NONE

Changes

 Example Query:

SELECT FAILOVER_METHOD, FAILOVER_TYPE, FAILED_OVER FROM V$SESSION
        WHERE SID=(select sid from v$mystat where rownum=1)

(FAILOVER_MODE=(TYPE=session)(METHOD=basic)) is correctly set in the network parameter files (tnsnames.ora)

Failover is properly configured
