GNS (Grid Naming Service) is being used in this cluster environment.
Following successful 18.104.22.168 Grid Infrastructure (making use of the GNS feature) and RDBMS installations, Real Application Clusters (RAC) database creation using the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) fails with error messages "ORA-00119" and "ORA-00132"
1. The resulting DBCA log file ($ORACLE_BASE\cfgtoollogs\dbcatrace.log) indicates the following:
[Thread-121] [ 2012-09-06 15:57:46.596 IST ] [BasicStep.handleNonIgnorableError:431] ORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter REMOTE_LISTENER
ORA-00132: syntax error or unresolved network name 'mycluster-scan.mycluster.mydomain.com:1521'
2. nslookup of the SCAN name is failing as follows:
*** domain.mydomain.com can't find mycluster-scan.mycluster.mydomain.com: Non-existent domain
3. The Cluster Verification Utility (CLUVFY) is indicating some errors related to the GNS sub domain:
C:\app\11.2.0\grid\BIN>cluvfy stage -post crsinst -n node1,node2
Verification of SCAN VIP and Listener setup passed
Checking GNS integrity...
The GNS subdomain name "mycluster.mydomain.com" is a valid domain name
Checking if the GNS VIP belongs to same subnet as the public network...
Public network subnets "22.214.171.124" match with the GNS VIP "126.96.36.199"
GNS VIP "mycluster-gns.mydomain.com" resolves to a valid IP address
