Missing Records in DBA_DEPENDENCIES When Mview Refers to SYS Schema's Objects (Doc ID 1525153.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 04, 2013

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 9.2.0.8 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

All related entries are missing from DBA_DEPENDENCIES and USER_DEPENDENCIES when a materialized view references base objects in the SYS schema.  This includes DUAL.

For example, if a query selected from table A, did a UNION ALL with table B, and did a UNION ALL with DUAL, none of the tables, including A and B would be referenced in DBA_DEPENDENCIES.  Removing the last UNION ALL with DUAL would let tables A and B show up in DBA_DEPENDENCIES.
