Executing Hive in MultiRack or Client Fails While Trying to Access Mysql on BDA Which Resides on a Different Rack in V2.0.1. (Doc ID 1531587.1)

Symptoms

In Multirack Oracle Big Data Appliance (BDA) V2.0.1, MySQL resides on rack1 and trying to execute Hive commands from rack2 fails with one of the below errors. Also same errors can occur when executing Hive commands on client when trying to access Hive/MySQL database on BDA.

Error1:

> hive
Logging initialized using configuration in file:/etc/hive/conf.dist/hive-log4j.properties
Hive history file=/tmp/oracle/hive_job_log_oracle_201302220818_1770054828.txt
hive> show tables;
FAILED: Error in metadata: javax.jdo.JDOFatalDataStoreException: Cannot get a connection, pool error Could not create a validated object, cause: A read-only user or a user in a read-only database is not permitted to disable read-only mode on a connection.

org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot get a connection, pool error Could not create a validated object, cause: A read-only user or a user in a read-only database is not permitted to disable read-only mode on a connection.

Error2:

hive> show tables;
FAILED: Error in metadata: javax.jdo.JDOFatalInternalException: Error creating transactional connection factory NestedThrowables:
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
FAILED: Execution Error, return code 1 from org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.DDLTask

 

Error3:

hive> show tables;
FAILED: Error in metadata: javax.jdo.JDOFatalDataStoreException: Access denied for user 'hive'@'myhost.***.com' (using password: YES)

java.sql.SQLException: Access denied for user 'hive'@'myhost.***.com' (using password: YES)
FAILED: Execution Error, return code 1 from org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.DDLTask

 Error4:

hive> select count(*) from sample_07;
FAILED: SemanticException Unable to fetch table sample_07
