Symptoms

Generic Connectivity using Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) has been configured to access Ingres v2.0 and a select gives the following error -

SQL> select count(*) from user_catalog@hsodbc;
select count(*) from user_catalog@hsodbc
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Transparent gateway for ODBC][CA][Ingres ODBC Driver][Ingres]The connection to
the server has been aborted. (SQL State: S1000; SQL Code: 5)
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from HSODBC

A gateway debug trace will show the following -

(0) hoalgon(7); Entered. name = INGRES.
(0) [CA][Ingres ODBC Driver][Ingres]The connection to the server has been aborted.
(0) (SQL State: S1000; SQL Code: 5)

(0) hoaexit(6); Entered.
(0) hoaexit(6); Exited with retcode = 0.
(0) hoautil; Closing log file at WED JUL 25 11:07:09 2001.

the line -

(0) hoalgon(7); Entered. name = INGRES.

shows that the logon attempt to the Ingres database is as the user INGRES in upper case.
