Goal

How to identify the corrupted XML rows on the SOURCE table when IMPDP fails with LPX-00217: invalid character

IMPDP fails with an error like this:

ORA-31693: Table data object "USER"."TABLE_NAME" failed to load/unload and is being skipped due to error:
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEFETCH callout
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
LPX-00217: invalid character 0 (U+0000)

 

The error is correctly raised because the XML document contains a not supported character. For more info take a look at <Note 248344.1>
