Core Files Generated in $ORACLE_HOME/DBS (Doc ID 1534372.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 19, 2014

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.3 [Release 11.2]
IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-bit)

Symptoms

The ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory on an 11.2.0.3 installation on AIX 6.1 is filling with core dump directories, which are generating every minute. There are no errors written to the alert.log.

The call stack extracted from the core files (using <Note: 1812.1>) is similar to:

pthread_kill <- p_raise <- raise <- abort <- skgdbgcra
<- sksdbgcra <- ksdbgcra <- ssexhd <- dbgerEvaluateRules <- dbgerEvaluateRules
<- dbgexPhaseII <- dbgexExplicitEndInc <- dbgeEndDDEInvocationImpl <- dbgeEndDDEInvocation <- ssexhd
<- dbgerEvaluateRules <- dbgerEvaluateRules <- dbgexPhaseII <- dbgexExplicitEndInc <- dbgeEndDDEInvocationImpl
<- dbgeEndDDEInvocation <- ssexhd <- ksmpclrpga <- opidcl <- opidrv
<- sou2o <- opimai_real <- ssthrdmain <- main

Changes

Identified this problem after upgrading the database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3.
