ORA-12520 After Adding a New Node to a Cluster as Hosts File has 127.0.0.1 Mapped to non-localhost (Doc ID 1538558.1)

Symptoms

After adding a new node to a cluster, getting the below error when connect to this node.

$sqlplus system@rac2

Enter password:
ERROR:
ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server

 

Changes

 tnsnames.ora

rac2 =
 (DESCRIPTION =
   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node2-vip.oracle.com)(PORT = 1521))
   (CONNECT_DATA =
     (SERVER = DEDICATED)
     (SERVICE_NAME = rac)
     (INSTANCE_NAME = rac2)

     

$lsnrctl services LISTENER_NODE2

Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC1)))

Services Summary...

 Instance "rac1", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...

The state of the service 'rac' for instance rac2 is "blocked".
