DBCA Does Not Delete Files On ASM When Deleting RAC Database (Doc ID 1558004.1)

Symptoms

You are deleting a RAC database using DBCA. The GUI gives impression of successful delete of the database.

DBCA log shows

The data files for database with DB_NAME "RACDGDUP" could not be determined because the database could not be started. Do you want to delete the database anyway

 
and

ORA-1031: insufficient privileges

 
and

ORA-01586: database must be mounted EXCLUSIVE and not open for this operation

 

You see the files exist using ASMCMD.
