Applies to:

Oracle Database Configuration Assistant - Version 10.2.0.1 and later

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Removed the related database files from the OS level for the unwanted database (even the init.ora files and entry in the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora related to database is deleted), instead of using the dbca (Database Configuration Assistant)
But the dbca still shows the database when again used and now we can not delete database using dbca and getting the error below

ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters

dbca -deleteDatabase or GUI dbca delete database shows error ORA-1078

Changes

Removed the related database files from the OS level for the unwanted database (even the init.ora files and entry in the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora related to database is deleted), instead of using the dbca (Database Configuration Assistant)

The error ORA-01078 is noted in the Database Configuration Assistant, Step 2 of 3 : Database and asked for "Select the database that you want to delete. All database files will be deleted." section

After selecting correct database and clicked on next button and got the below error (Note that all the files related to this database is already deleted from the OS level)
