Symptoms

  1. The following error is raised when running multiple ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE commands from different concurrent sessions:
    ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE
    Backup controlfile written to trace file <diagnostic_dest>/diag/rdbms/<dbname>/<instname>/trace/<instname>_ora_16224.trc
    Completed: ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE
    ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO '/tmp/controlbk.ctl' REUSE
    Sun May 26 01:05:01 2013
    Errors in file <diagnostic_dest>/diag/rdbms/<dbname>/<instname>/trace/<instname>_ora_17353.trc:
    ORA-00244: concurrent control file backup operation in progress
    Errors in file <diagnostic_dest>/diag/rdbms/<dbname>/<instname>/trace/<instname>_ora_16224.trc  (incident=64705):
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kccbck_bdi], [0], [0], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

  2. Review of the generated tracefiles reveals a call stack similar to:
    ... <- kccbckrm <- kccbck <- adbdrv <- opiexe <- ...
