Oracle Big Data Appliance Mammoth V2.2.0 Software Install Fails with "ERROR: An Appliance of name (bda cluster name) has already been installed" when Installing Second Cluster (Doc ID 1569407.1)

Last updated on MARCH 23, 2014

Applies to:

Oracle NoSQL Database - Version 11.2.2.0.26 and later
Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 2.2.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

For the mammoth 2.2.0 installation/upgrade configured two clusters on the bda configurator:

Cluster one (Server Group 1 (12 Servers) a new CDH Hadoop cluster)
Cluster two  (Server Group 2 (6 Servers) a new NoSQL DB cluster)

The configurator generated two parameter files with the same name: mammoth-bda1 for example, each one located on the corresponding cluster name directory. However, after the install for the CDH Hadoop cluster on 12 servers replaced the mammoth-bda1 parameter file with the one for the NoSQL DB Cluster and started to run again from Oracle Big Data Appliance node 1 and recieved the following error:

[root@bda1node01 BDAMammoth]# ./mammoth -s 1 bda1
