Error "MySQL Server Has Gone Away" When Aborted_connections Is Not Incremented (Doc ID 1571954.1)

Symptoms

  1. MySQL Client Application receives error 2006  "MySQL Server Has Gone Away".
  2. MySQL Server wasn't restarted recently.
  3. The Aborted_connections and Aborted_clients status variables don't increment (please note that some network errors may take up to wait_timeout seconds before incrementing Aborted_connections)
