Symptoms

While gathering the table statistics with degree > 1 for tables involving a
functional index, the following error occurs:

*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-20011: Approximate NDV failed: ORA-12805: parallel query server died
unexpectedly
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_STATS", line 23829
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_STATS", line 23880
ORA-06512: at line 1

The alert log shows the following ORA-00600 error:

ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal error
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17114], [0x2B02C54FF678], [], [],
[], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17114], [0x2B02C54FF678], [], [],
[], [], [], [], [], [], [], []

The error occurs for statistics collection on tables with
functional indexes.
Setting "_replace_virtual_columns"=false does not resolve the issue.

<Bug 11774077> : EXECUTE "GATHER SCHEMA STATISTICS WITH DEGREE=2" FAILS
<Bug 13504705> : ORA-00600: INTERNAL ERROR CODE, ARGUMENTS: [17114]

Both of the above bugs have been closed as duplicates of:

<Bug 10013177>: FUNCTIONAL INDEX CAUSES MAX DECODE GROUP BY SQL TO TRUNCATE
VALUES.

This issue has been fixed in 11.2.0.3.

Changes

You may have recently upgraded the databases from 11.1.0.7 to oracle 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2.
