Symptoms

Active/standby pair with clusterware, when the active is rebooted, the active didn't come up correctly.  This is the message in the crsd log(text file):

2013-05-02 14:56:41.751
[crsd(14973)]CRS-2765:Resource 'HOSTNAME.vip' has failed on server 'lhostname'.
2013-05-02 14:56:41.752
[crsd(14973)]CRS-2771:Maximum restart attempts reached for resource 'HOSTNAME.vip'; will not restart.
2013-05-02 14:56:47.774

2013-05-02 14:56:47.774
[crsd(14973)]CRS-2807:Resource 'HOSTNAME.vip' failed to start automatically.

This is what's in the customer's cluster.oracle.ini file:

$ cat cluster.oracle.ini
[TTDSN1]
MasterHosts=hostname1,hostname2
MasterVIP=123.123.123.31,123.123.123.32
ScriptInstallDir=/timesten//ttscripts
VIPInterface=eth0
VIPNetMask=255.255.255.123
CacheConnect=y
GridPort=1920,1921

This command prints the VIPs used by CRS:

$ srvctl config nodeapps
Network exists: 1/123.123.123.0/255.255.255.123/eth0, type static
VIP exists: /hostname1-vip/123.123.123.31/123.123.123.0/255.255.255.123/eth0, hosting node hostname1
VIP exists: /hostname2-vip/123.123.123.32/123.123.123.0/255.255.255.123/eth0, hosting node hostname2
