Password file location for Oracle Restart Databases In 12c (Doc ID 1578516.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

After a database is created via dbca in 12c Oracle Restart environment, the database password file location is empty in OCR as shown below

[oracle@node bin]$ ./srvctl config database -d SIHA
Database unique name: SIHA
Database name: SIHA
Oracle home: /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1
Oracle user: oracle
Spfile: +DATA/SIHA/spfileSIHA.ora
Password file:
Start options: open
Stop options: immediate
Database role: PRIMARY
Management policy: AUTOMATIC
Database instance: SIHA
Disk Groups: DATA

Not like a RAC database, the password file is created in ASM diskgroup (shared among all cluster nodes) and the password file location is stored in OCR when a database is created via dbca.
