Symptoms

When starting an Oracle instance on a 128-CPU machine with a shared pool of 600MB the following error is raised:

ORA-12853 : insufficient memory for PX buffers


Setting the shared pool size to 1GB allows the instance to start, but a large amount of memory is dedicated to the "PX msg pool".
