Purpose

This document provides instructions on how to configure a Red Hat(RH) based Linux system as a Cloudera's Distribution including Apache Hadoop (CDH) client, by downloading the needed RPM's from Oracle Big Data Appliance(BDA) repository.

Once Hadoop (CDH) client is installed, access is provided to Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and to submit MapReduce jobs on Oracle Big Data Appliance (BDA).

Note:- This document applies to installing Client using rpms and thus applies to only until BDA 4.0 release. As starting with BDA 4.1 , CDH install is parcel based.

Scope

 Oracle Big Data Appliance(BDA)Administrators , Exadata Adminstrators to install Hadoop client on one of the Exadata nodes which will act as a client to BDA , Oracle Advanced Customer Support (ACS) ..etc
