Activity Monitor Will Not Start - Logging Indicates Port 9998 in Use but it is Not on Oracle Big Data Appliance V2

Symptoms

1. Cloudera Manager
Cloudera Manager > Services > mgmt

shows that the Activity Monitor used to monitor the jobs and activities running on the Hadoop cluster is not up.

2. This may be observed during a Mammoth install during the " StartHadoopServices" step.

3. Checking the ACTIVITYMONITOR log file on Node 3 of the cluster under /var/log reports:

 

failed SelectChannelConnector@xxxxx.com:9998: java.net.BindException: Address already in use
