Last updated on JANUARY 17, 2020
Applies to:Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 126.96.36.199.0 to 188.8.131.52.0 [Release 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Temporarily running mixed Exadata Storage Server Software versions (e.g. during rolling cell patching or rack expansion with new hardware) on the storage cells is a common practice. However, if some of the Storage Cells involved are running version 184.108.40.206.0, while the Compute Nodes are using Oracle Database software version 220.127.116.11 or 18.104.22.168 without patch 17854520 installed, the system is exposed to database hangs or crashes.
Database instances may crash with ORA-7445[OSSCAP_RECOMPUTE_MIN]
Some Exadata Storage Cells running version 22.214.171.124.0 were recently introduced into the Exadata 126.96.36.199 or 188.8.131.52 Cluster.
Examples of this situation include:
a.) you are performing rolling cell patching
b.) rack expansion with new Exadata hardware running version 184.108.40.206.0
