Symptoms

Errors like the following are seen in the ALERT log:

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kpotcfnd-3], [36], [ORA-00036: maximum number of recursive SQL levels () exceeded
], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
ORA-00036: maximum number of recursive SQL levels (50) exceeded


The call stack in the trace file may shows functions like:

... kpotcfnd kpcpmap upirtrc upirtr upiver kpusrel OCIServerRelease kpotcgah OCIKCallHandles kwqididqx kpoaqdq opiodr ...

 

NOTE:
The trace file for the ORA-00600: "internal error code, arguments: [kpotcfnd-3]" does not normally contain the problem SQL.

 

Changes

We expect recursive SQL to be executed, causing this situation.
