Secure Enterprise Search Crawler Fails with ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor Or ORA-12514, TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor (Doc ID 1613935.1)

Symptoms

Error is occurring when trying to run a crawler for any SES source.

An error may be logged in a file in the crawler log location or it may display when launching the crawler. The log file would be found in

ORACLE_HOME\logs\crawler\crawler

and be named something like x.log where x is a number, ie 3.log.

Error connecting to database: Listener refused the connection with the following error:

ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor"

The error may also be

ORA-12514, TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
