RAC database HC_<SID>.dat is used by instance of different Oracle_Home (Doc ID 1618161.1)

Symptoms

On a cluster hosting different Oracle Homes running different databases,

health check file (hc_<sid>.dat) of one database is used by the instances of other Oracle Homes.

 

hc_<SID>.dat files is shared with other databases' instances.

Can also happen on Oracle Restart/SIHA node.

 

Changes

Out-of-place migration.

 

After an out-of-place upgrade, an old filesystem could not be unmounted as it was in use.

The file hc_<instance_name>.dat in the old ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory was locked by a number of processes from other instances.
