Purpose
Over the past several years, “flash‐based” storage has experienced wide scale deployment in large enterprise environments. In these environments, flash storage is often used for Oracle databases, both in Oracle engineered systems and customer‐defined configurations. This FAQ addresses general considerations for deploying flash‐based storage in an ASM environment for the latter - flash storage deployed in non‐engineered systems. The reason for this separation is that Oracle has undertaken extensive design and testing of engineered systems and delivers preconfigured systems optimizing flash storage.
